The university approached Northridge seeking an intranet solution capable of serving its disparate workforce while driving business efficiency, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. In addition to these key business drivers, the university team required an intranet solution focused on usability to engage, retain and unify both internal and external employee teams.
Northridge reviewed these requirements in the first phase of its True North Methodology, recommending a robust intranet solution on the Microsoft SharePoint platform. This intranet solution would leverage the native SharePoint functionality layered with Northridge SharePoint customization to fully accomplish the goals set forth by the client team.
Northridge delivered the custom intranet solution for university tailored to enable easy administration and encourage user adoption. The intranet features enhanced news, calendaring, and discussion forum functionalities including email update notifications and automatic archival enabled for search. For added security, intranet permissions allow select university department users to share intranet content and posts with others in outside departments and groups. Northridge also provided the university with a custom survey tool integrated with the SharePoint intranet solution which eliminated the need to continue utilizing a third-party application.
Focused on the end users, the Northridge Interactive team developed a user interface featuring a familiar look and feel with cohesive university branding elements and color palettes. The recently launched intranet solution has been met with immediate success and adoption. The intranet user visits and activity continue to increase. Across the university community as a whole, the intranet has increased SharePoint visibility and exposed custom SharePoint functionality to university groups and departments.
